New Report Reveals Mets Minority Owner's History Of Bad Purchases

When word got out that David Einhorn had agreed to invest in a minority stake in the Mets, many people in the media criticized Einhorn and called him a sucker for investing in Wilpon's mess.  Einhorn's camp quickly countered with stories of savvy hedge fund management and World Series of Poker successes.  There was even talk of a three year plan to own the team outright.  While we at The Apple are skeptical that will ever happen we do have to admit his plan sounds better than Wilpon's current 3-year plan which consists mostly of not dying.

While many were convinced that Einhorn is a competent ownership candidate, we did a little digging and have uncovered a troubling pattern of bad purchases dating back all the way to his childhood.  Here are some of the more disturbing examples:

  • He always buys the extended warranty at Best Buy.
  • When playing Blackjack, he always buys insurance.
  • He has a lifetime membership to a gym he went to while on vacation one time.
  • In college, he was a proud member of Columbia House music club.
  • He makes his own seltzer and sodas on the machine he bought after watching an infomercial on a 5 inch tv screen at BJ's.
  •  He owns a Flowbee.
  •  As a child, he owned a Nintendo Power Glove.

Einhorn was quick to deny the report but did admit that while he did have a Power Glove, it was a birthday gift from his Aunt Fran.
