Fred Wilpon has often been accused of trying to morph the Mets into his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. On Monday evening after the Mets game against the Florida Marlins, Wilpon finally addressed the issue when he released the following statement:
Greetings customers Mets Fans,
As you know, as a young man I was a big Brooklyn Dodgers fan. It has been suggested that we went a bit overboard in making our new ballpark Citi Field too "Dodgerish", what with the Ebbets Field facade, Jackie Robinson Rotunda, Pee Wee Reese kiddie pool, Don Newcombe Gardens & the Ralph Branca mens room.
