For those of you who don't already know, Mets senior director of media relations Shannon Forde, was diagnosed earlier this year with stage IV breast cancer. Shannon is one of the hardest working people in the Mets organization and has been a big supporter of The Apple. If you enjoy the silliness I produce on this site then maybe you'll consider helping lend some support to a friend in a time of need.
Shannon's friends and family have joined up with The Daniel P. Ryan Foundation and The Chic Charity Club to raise money and support Shannon with the medical expenses as well as her household expenses. They are hosting a fundraiser at the Westmount Country Club on November 1, 2012.
The fundraiser will consist of a dinner and auction, and a Mets meet & greet.
The Meet and Greet portion boasts a lineup featuring Matt Harvey, Daniel Murphy, Willie Randolph, Super Joe McEwing, Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, John Franco, Bobby Ojeda, Edgardo Alfonzo, Al Leiter, Ed Charles and Ed Kranepool. Tickets to the meet and greet cost $250. http://www.
The dinner portion will be emceed by Ron Darling and will feature more than 50 amazing sports related silent and live auction items including signed merchandise and/or experiences from the Mets, Yankees and many more MLB teams, the Jets, Giants, Knicks, Nets, Rangers and more. Plus, there’s an open bar and premium food, dancing and plenty of laughs. Tickets to the dinner cost $100. http://www.
