Las Vegas Sportsbook Allows Fans To Gamble On Mets PR Disasters

With the 2012 Mets season set to kick off in just one day, one Vegas sportsbook is giving fans a chance to gamble on which inevitable news stories will embarrass the Metropolitans in the coming year. Here's a look at some of the odds being given by the sports book at the Mirage in Las Vegas.  Which of these are you betting on?

(20-1) - David Wright ends another players season by stepping on them

(40-1) - Fred Wilpon does a magazine interview in which he says David Wright won't get "Jose Reyes" money when he becomes a free agent

Mets Owner Fred Wilpon Was Inspiration For NBC Alternate Reality Drama "Awake"

NBC has a new show airing on Thursdays called Awake. The premise being that the main character can not tell whether he is asleep or awake.  He lives in two alternate realities since suffering a terrible accident.  In one his son is dead, in the other, he lost his wife. This much you may know. What you may not know is that the idea for this show came from the fact that Mets primary owner Fred Wilpon has the exact same situation going on.

What It Would Look Like If Mark Cuban Bought The Mets...And Everyone Was Cats

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a cat drawing from Steve Gadlin of IWantToDrawACatForYou.com. In the box that says describe your cat I wrote:
I would like a cat that depicts Mark Cuban buying the Mets franchise from the bankrupt/incompetent Wilpons to the approval of the team's fans.
Well yesterday in the mail I got my drawing.  Here it is:

"Kick A Wilpon" Promotion Leads To Second Straight Black Friday Trampling At Citi Field

Just like last year, the New York Mets hoped to boost sagging merchandise sales at their stadium shop by hosting a black Friday sale early this morning.  Unfortunately for the Mets, the results were similar to last year's debacle, sending several fans to the hospital.

Caught On Tape: Fred Wilpon & Sandy Alderson Discuss Strategy For 2012

"Sandy, we're phasing out color to cut costs."
In case you're wonder the bug we planted in Fred Wilpon's Citi Field office is still functioning fine.  Here's what it picked up a couple of mornings ago:

Larry Smith Sneaks A Peek At Sandy Alderson's To-Do List

A few weeks ago your intrepid correspondent got himself his first ever smartphone.  The one I replaced was so old that it had a crank on the side and connected to a party line (too bad you have to be my age in order to appreciate that joke).

Anyway these new fangled phones even have cameras in them.  Did anyone else know that?

Disagreement Over Urinal Dividers Sunk Wilpon/Einhorn Deal

The news has been full of speculation on just why the Wilpon-Einhorn ownership deal fell apart.  Some sources report that Wilpon had been dealing behind Einhorn's back.  Other sources say Mets ownership was fed up with Einhorn's attempts to wrestle away majority control.  The Apple has spent the last 24 hours investigating the break-up and what we ended up finding out was shocking.  In the end, it was urinals that sunk the deal.

It's Always Funny In Flushing

There's not much to say about the Mets right now, so in the meantime enjoy this:

Mets Ownership Says Moving LF Fence Would Anger The Wizard Who Lives Behind It

Aside from the lack of dividers in the mens room, the left field fence is the most hotly debated part of the Mets home ballpark.  Should it be moved in? Should it be lowered? Should it be lowered and moved in?  Every Mets fan seems to have an opinion, but ownership has remained mostly quiet on the subject.  Yesterday, in an exclusive interview with The Apple, Mets owner Fred Wilpon finally broke his silence on the subject and what he had to say may surprise you.

MLB Investigation Reveals Jose Reyes Injury Was Fabricated By The Mets

When Jose Reyes went on the DL with his most recent hamstring injury, many around the league speculated that the injury was in fact a fortunate turn for the Mets hopes of resigning their star shortstop.  Major League Baseball had a similar thought and launched a full investigation into the injury.  What they turned up was shocking.

Wilpon Says Mets Plan To Retire Jeter's #2

The New York media has been flooded with Derek Jeter Mania.  Half of all the sports pages in town have been profiles, biographies, and testimonials to the storied Yankee captain.

And on a Saturday afternoon when the only things to watch sports-wise was the Yankees or a womens soccer match, Jeter came through big time punctuating his climb to immortality with a five hit performance, the second of which was a homerun to left field for hit #3000.

Mets T-Shirt Maker At Center Of Sweatshop Investigation

Mets fan Darren Meenan has been in the news a lot this week.  The self made T-shirt magnate has made the media rounds this week discussing his T-shirt business, a campaign to keep Jose Reyes in NY and his recent dismissal from Citi Field.  While most of the attention has been positive, the Douglaston native may soon find himself in some very hot water with the Feds.

Springtime For Wilpon In Citi Field: Larry Smith Weighs In On Mets Ownership

This past Thursday was a good day for Fred Wilpon and the Mets OFF the field but a bad day on the field.

The Mets define their in-season days as:
Good day -  Mets win while no Met players are hurt.
Fair day - Mets win while only one player gets hurt  OR Mets lose while no players get hurt.
Bad day - Mets lose and one or more players get hurt.

So Thursday was a bad day.

Wilpon Is Einhorn...Einhorn Is Wilpon

There I've said it.  Now enjoy this silly photo and let's move on...

Wilpon Pretty Much Just Talking To Anyone Who Will Listen At This Point

Bored with the mainstream media, Mets owner Fred Wilpon is pretty much talking to anyone who will listen now.  On Wednesday he met with members of the Ecuadorian soccer team in preparation for the upcoming Ecuador Greece friendly at Citi Field.  After the meeting, he spoke to the popular Ecuadorian magazine "The Quitonian" and made some controversial statements:
