Las Vegas Sportsbook Takes Enormous Hit During Dickey 1-Hitter

Wednesday night saw baseball history made and almost made.  Matt Cain pitched a perfect game for his SF Giants while R.A. Dickey came really close to pitching a no-hitter (ho hum, another one) for the NY Mets.

But the sports book at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas saw little money change hands on those accomplishments.  Instead it was an exotic combo bet that nearly sank them.

Mets Blame Recent Poor Play On Loss Of Mike Nickeas' Hair

After rattling off six straight wins earlier this month, the Mets fortunes have taken a turn for the worse.  Many in an around the organization are looking for a reason.  Have the bats gone cold?  Has the manager not been pushing the right buttons? Have they used up all their black uniform magic?  While all of these theories seem plausible it is a theory coming out of the Mets clubhouse that might be the most telling.  According to the players, the team has become preoccupied with the absence of Mike Nickeas' hair.

Famed Ballhawk Hample Credits Arm Extension Surgery For HR Catch

Last Thursday, Mike Nickeas hit his first Major League home run.  Famed ballhawk Zack Hample made the catch and chronicled his fascinating journey to get the ball back to Nickeas.  But some are calling Hample's victory tainted.  The reason?  A controversial arm extension surgery which has many in the ballhawking community crying foul.
