Mets Being Sued For Copyright Infringement Over Underdog T-Shirts

It was supposed to be a motivational tool by Mets COO Jeff Wilpon to help rally his ballplayers, but as so often happens in Metsville the organization has once again found itself in legal trouble.  On Monday, the team tweeted this image of a Mets shirt featuring the logo of cartoon hero Underdog. ESPN later reported that the shirts were ordered by Jeff Wilpon as a way of rallying the team.  Innocent enough right?

#BringBackGlennClose: Together We Can Make This Minor Thing Happen

If there's one thing my good friends over at MetsPolice have taught me, it's that if you complain publicly about some minor and ultimately unimportant thing the Mets will probably listen (see Banner Day). Until now, I have not felt strongly enough about any cause to go to take to my blog about it...until now.

Hey Mets, Can We Please...

Hey @Metspolice can you get on this bandwagon.  The Mets seem to listen whenever you ask them for stuff.

Alien Creature Who's Been Impersonating Jason Bay For The Last 2 Years Captured

Police raided a hotel room in Port St. Lucie, Florida on Wednesday and made a shocking discovery.  Officers who thought they were responding to a simple noise complaint instead found Mets left fielder Jason Bay being held against his will...by Jason Bay.

Mets Pitcher Niese Says New Giant Nose Improves Breathing, Distracts Hitters

When reports surfaced that Mets pitcher Jon Niese had undergone off-season rhinoplasty many assumed the pitcher had simply had his nose corrected to improve breathing and that the end result would be a more symmetrical, streamlined nose.  However Niese told The Apple today that, while he considered that approach, he ultimately decided to have it enlarged.

Lil' Murph's Diary: Little Murph Is Ready For Spring Training

Dear Diary,

It's been a while since I've written so I thought I'd catch you up on what's happening.  Soon we'll be heading down to Florida to start to get ready for the 2012 Major League season.  This is about the first time I'm going down there with a position, sort of.

Happy Valentin's Day Everyone!

This morning I got a text message wishing me a "Happy Valentins Day".  At first I assumed it was a typo but then I got thinking, why is there no day to celebrate Jose Valentin's contributions to the Mets? So if you aren't down with the whole Valentine's Day thing, why not join The Apple in celebrating this great Met.  Sit down with your sweetie and discuss his two homer game in the 2006 clincher and then challenge yourselves to think of some other Valentin memory.  Have fun and Happy Valentin's Day to all!

What It Would Look Like If Mark Cuban Bought The Mets...And Everyone Was Cats

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a cat drawing from Steve Gadlin of IWantToDrawACatForYou.comIn the box that says describe your cat I wrote:
I would like a cat that depicts Mark Cuban buying the Mets franchise from the bankrupt/incompetent Wilpons to the approval of the team's fans.
Well yesterday in the mail I got my drawing.  Here it is:

Mets Hope To Cash In On Giants Success By Releasing Confusingly Similar Merchandise

If you been in a Modells anywhere near New York lately you've probably noticed an atmosphere similar to the floor of the NY Stock Exchange as Giants fans scoop up every piece of merchandise they can find.  Well the Mets have noticed too and have crafted a clever line of clothing hoping to cash in on the success of the Giants by essentially tricking Giants fans into buying Mets merchandise.

For The Record, I Warned The Mets About Megdal Years Ago

Earlier this week, word got out that Howard Megdal would not be credentialed in 2012.  The consensus on the web is that the Mets were unhappy with Megdals reporting.  Perhaps they should have heeded my warning back in 2010 about the danger Megdal posed.

Mets Take Page From New York Giants Playbook By "Accidentally" Proclaiming Themselves Champions

On Saturday night, the New York Giants accidentally posted this image proclaiming the Giants Super Bowl champions.  Unfortunately, the game was still 24 hours away.  While many were convinced the gaffe would certainly jinx the team, the Giants were apparently not affected as they went on to defeat the New England Patriots and win the Super Bowl. While the incident caused the New York Giants organization a little embarrassment it apparently also got some people in the offices of the New York Mets thinking.
