David Wright's "Injury" Is Just An Excuse To Visit Shorter Fences

Mets slugger David Wright was spotted at Citi Field Monday morning checking in on the progress of the new shorter fences at the ballpark.  A source inside the Mets organization confirmed that Wright's "injury" is indeed nothing more than a cover story to allow the third baseman to visit the now more hitter friendly ballpark.

Mets In Talks With The Apple About Sponsorship Deal For New Seating Area

So yesterday I was minding my own business trying to enjoy my Halloween when my Twitter started blowing up with messages that basically said, "The Mets took your ideas.", "Congrats on re-designing Citi Field." and the one that made me cringe "Thank you for getting us blue walls."  Apparently, the Mets had announced new dimensions and people were congratulating me for some reason.

All The News That's Fit To Print...And Occasionally The Ramblings Of A Jackass

I don't know if the Mets are listening but the New York Times is.  For whatever reason, the Times saw fit to print some of my ideas for Citi Field in this Saturday's paper.  I only find this odd because they never printed the ten page letter I sent them a while back about why Zooey Deschanel should go out with me.

While I'm not sure if getting my blog mentioned in the paper is much better than when mom and dad would put my drawings on the fridge, I guess this is still pretty cool and I'm honored. 

Thanks to Justin & Joe at the NY Times for making this happen.  Tomorrow, it's back to nonsense for me.

Citi Field Fence Redux

Given all the talk of Citi Field's dimensions that has sprung up, I thought it might me a good idea to re-post all my earlier fence ideas in one spot. I'm somewhat neutral on the whole moving the fences in so I tried to make my suggestions purely on added aesthetic value.  Here we go:

The "Great Wall Of Flushing":

While I don't really advocate adding seating in LF, here is one possible option.  The logistics of getting those people in or out of that new section are beyond me. This is actually a second draft as I tried to make it more realistic as per some issues that were brought up after the first draft.

You may notice in this version the seats in this section are now barstool seats modeled after Fenway's first row of monster seats.  The seating ends just before the hanger door so that it can still function.  This also leaves outfielders a nice amount of space in the Left Center Field gap where they can take an unobstructed shot at bringing back a homer.

OK Metsblog, Here Are Your Stupid Blue Walls, Now Release My Family

For the record, I am not a fan of blue walls at Citi Field.  Personally, I think when you throw around too much blue and orange it makes everything turn purple.  Unfortunately, when Matt Cerrone & Michael Baron want something they are going to get their way.  Apparently even if it means coming to your house and taking your family hostage.  So here you go Metsblog.  Here are your blue walls, now give me back my family. 

Revision To My Left Field Wall Idea

Tried to make it more realistic as per some issues that were brought up.  The seating is now a single row "monster seats" style and terminates at the Verizon "hanger door" which allows the door to still function as a double gate.  The lower doors open followed by the larger original doors.  Every thing from the other side of the door to the apple will be empty space allowing OFers to try and bring one back.

And Now Something For You Mo's Zone Haters...

You guys really seemed to like my idea for the Left Field wall so I figured I'd take a crack at the hated Mo's Zone.  Unlike the LF wall I think this can actually be accomplished at a minimum of expense.  Under this plan, the Mo's Zone gets fenced in.  The fenced in area becomes an added picnic pavillion for Mo Zone guests with either picnic tables or some kind of bleacher seating.
