Last week I posted some of my frustrations with my Mets 15-Game ticket plan. I took particular exception to $63 upper deck seats for Opening Day and games vs. some team from the Bronx. The post got a huge response and I received a lot of feedback both on and off the site so I thought I would share and respond to some of it.
Jaime D. via Facebook writes:
63 dollars for upper deck for ANY regular season game is utterly ridiculous. And this is from someone who always finds a way to get to games.
No argument here. I'm pretty sure it would have been hard to even get 63 bucks on Stubhub for last year's "marquee" tickets which carried a $36 face value. I guess one way to beat the secondary market is to eliminate the primary market and create a ticket price equally unattractive to both scalpers and actual fans alike?

Checkmate: How The Mets Used The All-Star Game To Slip A Price Increase Past Plan Holders
Posted by
Randy Medina
As the holiday season approaches it serves as a reminder that the 2013 baseball season is only a few months away. That's right, another season of the whirling dervish of uncertainty that is Mets baseball is hurtling towards us and if you're a glutton for punishment like me this means it's time for me to get pissed about my ticket plan.
If you're a Mets 15-game plan holder like me you probably received an email this week laying out the renewal process. If you opened this email you no doubt noticed the prices have gone up. Let's do some math, shall we?

Mets Unveil Controversial New Ticket Commercial
Posted by
Randy Medina
Desperate to sell tickets, the New York Mets have apparently taken a page out of the ASPCA's playbook and are hoping to use powerful images of the team's suffering to guilt fans into purchasing tickets. The video seems to send the message that if you don't buy tickets, the players will end up being put to sleep.
However, it seems even that might not be enough. Despite the fact that the ad has been running all week, a source within the Mets ticket office confirms that the phones still aren't ringing.

A Brief Look Inside The Mets "Dynamic Pricing" Model
Posted by
Randy Medina
The plan for the Mets in 2012 is to lower ticket prices. But the team has stated that it reserves the right to raise prices again for certain high profile games.
The Mets have allowed The Apple to take a peek at some of the early plans for alterations in ticket prices. These are unofficial at the moment but if the club can find an accountant to track all the possibilities it is expected that they will go into effect:

Mets Ticket Sales Staff Bulking Up To Enforce "Dynamic Pricing"
Posted by
Randy Medina
This week, the Mets announced that they will be using a "dynamic pricing" system in 2012. Under the new system, ticket prices can be adjusted upward and downward in real time to meet demand. While the goal of dynamic pricing is to encourage pre-season sales and reward subscribers with the best prices, many will no doubt see the plan as greedy at best and legalized scalping at worst.

Catch The Mets, Cubs & Tennis This Weekend In Flushing
Posted by
Randy Medina
Our ticketing partners over at TiqIQ sent us this image featuring the Mets v. Cubs series the US Open and how much it would cost to spend a day in Flushing for both events. It shows the average price for each event along with the total cost for each day.
The men's final is on Sunday, which is why it's so expensive. Saturday is the women's final, and the Friday session is the men's doubles finals and women's semis. With a total cost of 50% less than Sunday, Saturday offers fans the best overall deal.
Of course, given all these rain delays all of that is subject to change so you may want to double check before ordering any tickets.
