Mets Hope New Peanuts Special Will Help Fans Cope With Dickey Trade

In an attempt to help Mets fans cope with the impending trade of fan-favorite R.A. Dickey, the New York Mets are debuting a brand new Peanuts special Tuesday night on their SNY television network.

The half hour special titled "Your Favorite Player Is Leaving The Mets Again, Charlie Brown" will feature the Peanuts gang trying to cheer up everyone's favorite parent-less bald kid as he deals with the departure of another one of his favorite ballplayers.

Here is the official description from SNY:

My Attempt To #FixTheScoreBug

There's been a lot of talk on Twitter about SNY's confusing scorebug.  The main issue seems to be the inning number in the middle of the score.  I decided to fire up Photoshop and take a crack at it.  The first image is the actual scorebug, the second image is how I would express the same info. What do you think?

SNY Renews Kevin Burkhardt But Cancels The Mets

It is October, a time when TV networks realize that their brilliant ideas of just a few months ago have turned into shows that nobody really cares about.  Ask the folks at "The Playboy Club" and Hank Azaria's amigos at "Free Agents".  They have been pink slipped already. (Wait, is that a pun regarding the Playboy show?)

The Apple has learned that due to failing ratings during the 2011 baseball season, sports network SNY has decided to discontinue carrying games in the upcoming 2012 season.

Mets Quiet Hero Marches Towards Date With Destiny

As the season comes to a close this afternoon at Citi Field, all eyes will be on Mets shortstop Jose Reyes and his pursuit of the NL batting title. But quietly, behind the scenes, another member of the Mets family is chasing history and if he can make it through Wednesday's broadcast without snapping at an idiot fan, SNY's Kevin Burkhardt will break a record that has stood for over forty years.

Jose Reyes Is A Volcano Taco, Ruben Tejada is Lava Sauce & Other Things I've Learned From Ted Berg

Are you like me? Have you always wondered what item on the Taco Bell menu is most comparable to Jose Reyes?  Of course you have.  Thankfully, SNY's Ted Berg took some time to answer my question on The Baseball Show this week.  Ted solves the Reyes/Taco mystery at the 1:29 mark below:

Now I know what you're thinking, is this the beginning of an SNY/The Apple comedy team. The answer is no. SNY is still refusing to hire me. They say it's mostly because it would violate the restraining order Ted Berg filed against me.

Kevin Burkhardt Tells The Apple He Would Accept Trade To Yes Network

Apparently K-Rod isn't the only member of the Mets with his sights set on the Bronx.  Just hours after the Mets had taken two of three from the defending AL champs, SNY star Kevin Burkhardt told The Apple that he would be fine with a trade to the rival YES Network even if it meant a diminished role.

Fun With Real Photos: Keith Hernandez's WTF Vest

As seen on last night's post-game show:

Apparently as a cost-cutting measure, Keith must also direct traffic in the parking lot after the games.

Happy Birthday Kevin Burkhardt!

The Apple would like to send out warm birthday wishes to our favorite target, SNY's own Kevin Burkhardt.  Happy Birthday Kevin.  We weren't sure what to get you to mark the occasion so we reached out to one of your co-workers and he helped us come up with something.  Enjoy your cake Kevin.  We dare you to ever look at cake the same way again.

Ted "Golden Voice" Williams To Join Cast Of SNY's Beer Money

The internet is abuzz this week with constant updates about Ted Williams.  No not that Ted Williams.  Ted "The Golden Voice" Williams made national headlines this week with his touching story of a flawed man with a golden voice.

Since video of his voice went viral earlier this week the homeless man has been inundated with offers from everything from TV to radio.  Never one to miss an opportunity, SNY has made a formal offer to Williams to join the cast of the networks highest rated show, re-runs of Beer Money.

Kevin Burkhardt Needs To Be More Careful What He Tweets

SNY frontman Kevin Burkhardt should know better by now that if he's going to insist on tweeting things like this:

My son has pajama day at school. I'm pretty sure I'm going to emulate that at home...less than a minute ago via TweetDeck

I have no choice but to post this:
Nice feet Kev, though Rex Ryan probably would disagree.

Video: Mets Fans Reaction To Terry Collins Being Named Mets Manager

Terry Collins passed the interview process and won the steel cage deathmatch to earn the title of Mets manager.  That doesn't mean the fans have to like it as evidenced by this video.

Did SNY Disrespect Sandy Alderson During His Interview On Mets Hot Stove?

OK SNY, we get it.  Kevin Burkhardt is your star.  You don't have to keep hitting us over the head with him.  Fans tuning in to watch new Mets GM Sandy Alderson's interview on Mets Hot Stove this week were shocked to find that the interview centered almost entirely around Burkhardt.  Here's a clip:

We can't help but feel like it was a little over the top but Sandy Alderson appears to be taking the whole thing in stride.

"A successful TV network is one of the cornerstones of a healthy franchise.", Alderson told the Apple.  "Kevin is a big part of why SNY has been so good in these early years.  It's completely understandable that the network would want to showcase him as much as possible."

If you missed the interview, SNY is airing a rerun of Mets Hot Stove tonight at 6PM EST followed by an hour of footage of Burkhardt riding a horse on a beach.

SNY To Air Comedy Sitcom Starring Gary, Keith & Ron in December

It is an arduous task for a local cable sports network to fill its airwaves with programming 24/7.  For this reason SNY has partnered with the NY Jets and UConn - and a soon to be announced association with New Rochelle High School to show its entire home and away lacrosse schedule. But even with that there is a programming void. People seem to be able to put up with Joe Beningo on DAILY NEWS LIVE only so much.

Steve Raab, President of SNY, explains the need for alternative programming.  “The YES network can air hundreds of Yankee classic games plus many Yankeeographies.”, said Raab. “But, seriously, how many Mets classic games are there to choose from, 10? 15? And if you narrow it down to showing mostly the ones the Mets have won then you're back in the single digits.”

Earlier this year the Mets experimented with primetime drama when they aired CSI: Citi Field.  The show, which starred SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt, debuted to critical praise but struggled to find an audience and was eventually cancelled.  Despite their failure in the drama category, SNY is gambling that viewers may be open to comedy.

Beginning Monday December 6th and continuing through the end of March, SNY will air its first original scripted comedy series, the working title of which is "THE BIG INNING THEORY".
T.B.I.T. will star Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling. The plot premise is that the three announcers for the mythical major league team known as the New York Skyscrapers have all been thrown out of their domiciles by their wives. None of the wives could apparently continue to put up with husbands who talked baseball non-stop.

During the offseason the three characters, Gary Conan, Keith Stache, and Ron Dorable, decide to share an apartment in Manhattan. Gary plays a baseball-junkie turned announcer who can recite every trivial detail about the “'Scrapers” down to what denture adhesive was used by its original manager, Casey Stiggler. Gary's signature laugh line will be that as he leaves the apartment he'll always excitedly say, "I'm on the move, I'm at the door, I'M OUTTA HERE, OUTTA HERE." The laugh track will be turned up to max volume for this so the viewing audience will know to laugh.

Keith Stache is an ex-ballplayer and he'll be known as the guy who blurts out whatever comes into his mind. The roommates will love him but be exasperated by his candor and unique outlook on the world.
The writers are working frantically to figure out some way that Ron Dorable will be unique and funny.

No sitcom can exist without an attractive female lead. The guys will vie for the attention of sexy neighbor Jenny, played by Beer Money’s Amber Wilson.  Throw in their hotshot young neighbor Devon Workhard, played by Kevin Burkhardt, and you have a recipe for comedic gold.

The producers were hoping to add a recurring character, a crusty former Marine who would be the landlord for the guys, Stanley Alderman. They shelved this idea when it was learned that their first choice for the role, Norman Fell, was 86 years old, long retired, and actually dead.

It has not been decided yet whether the elevator in the building works.
