Over the last two weeks, the NFL has released a slew of new Super Bowl products which football hungry customers have scooped up happily, but many fans aren't so happy about the league's latest cross-promotion: a line of Super Bowl themed condoms.

Coming Soon: "I Want To Draw A Cat For You Guy" Draws A Cat For The Apple

I was watching the TV show Shark Tank last night and they featured an interesting business. Steve Gadlin, who started the hilariously simple yet genius company I Want To Draw A Cat For You, was looking for funding for his cat drawing business. In the end he got his funding from Mark Cuban, the man many Mets fans wish the Metropolitans got their funding from.

Meet The Mitts: Mets Set To Host The 197th Republican Presidential Debate At Citi Field

Ticket sales to see the 2012 budget-friendly version of the NY Mets have been, let's say, tepid. In order to remain financially solvent it is crucial that every possible step is taken to put the proverbial fannies in the seats. To that end the team's promotional department has been working overtime.
What was originally planned for the Wednesday May 16th night game vs Cincinnati, Ronnie Cedeno Bobblehead Night, has been changed.
Instead the promotion will be GOP Debate Night.

Sony recently released one of the first teaser trailers for it's amazing MLB The Show video game franchise. Being a fan of the series, I watched closely hoping to see if the new Citi Field dimensions made it into the game. At the 1:34 mark I was happy to see they did. I kept watching those few frames over and over to see what changes I could catch and then I realized what was actually happening in the clip.

Mark Wahlberg Says Mets Would Have Won 2006 NLCS If He Had Been There

"If I was in that dugout with my team, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood on that field and then me saying, ‘OK, I'm going to go hit a home run and we’re going to win this thing, don’t worry.'" - Mark Wahlberg

Ever since the Texas Rangers announced they would not be bringing broadcaster Josh Lewin back next season, the Mets blogosphere has been buzzing about Lewin possibly joining Howie Rose in the WFAN booth. Despite the need to replace Wayne Hagin next season, Mets GM Sandy Alderson told The Apple on Tuesday night that a Lewin deal does not seem like a realistic possibility at this point.

Mets Unveil Controversial New Ticket Commercial

Desperate to sell tickets, the New York Mets have apparently taken a page out of the ASPCA's playbook and are hoping to use powerful images of the team's suffering to guilt fans into purchasing tickets. The video seems to send the message that if you don't buy tickets, the players will end up being put to sleep.
However, it seems even that might not be enough. Despite the fact that the ad has been running all week, a source within the Mets ticket office confirms that the phones still aren't ringing.

1986 Mets A Year To Remember: The DVD That Doesn't Exist...Or Does It?

Matt Callan over at Amazin' Avenue had a stellar post this morning about the 60 minutes of awesomeness that was the "1986 Mets: A Year To Remember" VHS. As a kid I watched this video over and over again. The only other things that came close were the Baseball: Funny Side Up VHS that my mom got me from AVON and the copy of the movie Iron Eagle that my dad taped off of HBO.
Much like Matt, I lamented the lack of a DVD of this masterpiece of 80's chest-thumping as I got older and VCR's became harder to come by. However, about 2 years ago I took matters into my own hands and created my own DVD version. Since it's just for my personal use I assume it's all nice and legal. Just for fun I updated the visuals and dressed up the packaging. Finally, just to be a smart-ass, I even added an MLB hologram. Check out the pics below:
