It was a somber tone at Citi Field this afternoon as that Mets announced that Clement Okon, the Nigerian Prince who Fred Wilpon had partnered with last season, was being ousted from the Mets ownership group.
During the silver level press conference, Wilpon explained that Okon essentially disappeared with the ten million dollars the Mets had wired him and is completely unreachable. As a result the Mets are cutting ties with Okon and moving forward with other plans.
Mets will begin the process of interviewing potential new minority shareholders tomorrow when they meet with Ruth Madoff.
