Last night, the Mets held a conference call between GM Sandy Alderson and a group of bloggers. You may have seen the duplicate tweets on your timelines last night as bloggers each battled to be the first to quote the GM on Twitter.
While most bloggers accounts match up I noticed a disturbing trend emerging. It seems that many of the bloggers were completely ignoring some of the more bizarre, controversial, or downright inflammatory things that Sandy was saying. If you read other accounts it's almost like he didn't say any of these things. Clearly, the Mets collective of chosen bloggers is covering for the GM with the hopes of keeping their access and all the free steak sandwiches that come with it.

First Look At Mets 2013 Marketing Slogans

The Mets Marketing Department is hard at work again coming up with promotional materials for the fast approaching season. Just like in past years, they have agreed to let The Apple publish some of their early ideas to see what my readers think. Enjoy and let me know which you like best. Don't forget to add your own ideas in the comments section.

For Norm Charlton & Others Mets Bullpen Could Be Shot At Return To The Bigs

After a rather stagnant off-season highlighted only by the trade of Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey to Toronto for several top prospects the Mets gobbled up veteran relief pitchers for the 2013 staff.
LaTroy Hawkins, Scott Atchison, Pedro Feliciano, and Brandon Lyon have been signed and will have the chance to make the squad.
But the Alderson administration did not stop there. Believing that there is power in numbers - as long as those numbers are not on major league contracts - the Mets also offered minor league deals to the following players, all of whom have major league experience.

Mike Piazza: Master Of Karate

"You break my bat. Now I break you like I break Fisk's record." |
Remember that time Mike Piazza squared off against Roger Clemens in a Bloodsport style Kumite deathmatch? Me neither, but according to excerpts from Piazza's new book it almost happened. In his book, Piazza not only admits to taking karate lessons in anticipation of a brawl with the Yankees pitcher, but even takes a moment to discuss fight strategy.

Need a last minute Valentines Day Gift? The Mets have you covered. Over at Mets.com you can create your own Virtual Mr. Met Valentine by digitally inserting everyone's favorite big headed mascot into one of your photos.
Once you upload a photo, you can superimpose an image of Mr. Met onto it and submit it for the gallery.
The choice is yours whether to add Mr. Met to a precious family photo or just be a giant wise-ass about the whole thing like I did. Just keep in mind that your pic has to approved to make the gallery so I don't think this one is making the cut...
