Mets Pitcher Niese Says New Giant Nose Improves Breathing, Distracts Hitters

When reports surfaced that Mets pitcher Jon Niese had undergone off-season rhinoplasty many assumed the pitcher had simply had his nose corrected to improve breathing and that the end result would be a more symmetrical, streamlined nose.  However Niese told The Apple today that, while he considered that approach, he ultimately decided to have it enlarged.

The reason?

"It's bigger now so more air gets in there.", says Niese. "Sure you get the occasional insect or small bird up there too but it's a trade-off I'm willing to make."

But improved breathing isn't the only benefit.

"Hitters now have an added distraction when they step into the box against me.  I mean seriously, who can concentrate on hitting a ball when they're staring at this thing?"
