Pascucci Becomes Latest NY "Athlete" To Boycott Mike Francesa

So far during the offseason the only stories we've all had to write about are the ones saying that Jose will probably sign elsewhere and that the outfield walls were getting lower and shallower.  Big whoop.

Then a Mets player, of sorts, stepped up to the plate and gave us something to write about: Val Pascucci.  Now, truth be told, this minor league journeyman is so obscure that I don't think I could distinguish him from Amerigo Vespucci but it's been quiet around here lately so when the big "slugger" called a press conference the Mets beat writers had no reason not to attend.
Like a pack of rats who just discovered some cheese we all scurried over toward big Val.  And almost on cue he declared: "Gentlemen I have decided to officially boycott Mike Francesa's radio program.  The way he mistreated 'my man' Darrelle Revis the other day is just unconscionable."

What he was referring to was a recent incident on radio station WFAN. The controversial afternoon host, Mike Francesa, seems to have it in for all things Jets and it's been said that the next nice thing he has to say about the Mets will be his first.

Francesa kept bugging Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis during a recent live on-air interview.  Mike called one of Revis' defensive plays a "mugging" and wanted the player to admit that it should have been called a penalty.  Revis, on advice of a Jets PR guy, hung up on Francesa.

Joel Sherman asked the question that was on all of our minds. "What makes you think Francesa would ever want YOU on his show in the first place?"

Val responded: "Look, I know I haven't exactly made it big as a major league player yet (ed.note: the soon to be 33 year old has had 73 at-bats spread out over a six year period) but with my 'rawsome' (sic) power I might just go out there one day and hit four home runs in a game (ed.note: No, you won't) or maybe lead the league in dingers or RBI's (ed.note: Dream on.)   And then Francesa will be begging me to come onto his show and I just won't, never, ever, uh-uh."

Adam Rubin then said: "So that's it?  You won't go on a radio show that probably has no interest in ever having you?"

Val replied: "And I aint going to listen to him anymore either.  Maybe Michael Kay has just picked up another listener."

As the reporters all left, one has to wonder whether Pascucci's next stop will even be within range to pick up either of those NY radio stations.
